Why am I doing this blog?
I'll tell you a little story.
A while ago I was at a bar chatting with friends and made a comment about finding out that the Crazy Horse cinema was the CBDs longest running cinemas, we chatted about porn cinemas and porn shops and which one had closed, which one were still around. I made a comment that someone should do a book or something about Melbourne's adult entertainment history. They all turned to me and said I should do it.
And that's how it started.
First it was just porn shops and cinemas, when they opened and what was there before them. Then while researching in the state library's newspaper archives I found lots of other info about censorship, protests, outrage, etc. You know, the usual stuff tabloid journalism thrives off. The more I dug, the more interesting it became.
Ive read a few books, one called Secret Histories of Queer Melbourne (by Graham Willett) and another Madame Brussels, this moral pandemonium (by L.M. Robinson) and later on did a sex worker tour of Melbourne. The more i read and learn the more stuff comes out. Ive even got inspiration from overseas, from the guy who does the amazing blog/books Cinema Sewer, Robin Bougie. His research into Vancouver's porn cinemas is inspirational.
So this blog will be random entries about the stuff i found, photos, articles, maps, links to websites
I will update entries when more info on stuff comes to light

Great idea. I always find out weird shit about places I travel but don't really know that much about Melbourne.
